Frequently Asked Questions

How do I earn money?
Every time your Google, Fastclick or other ad program would normally show a non-paid advertisement, it is replaced by an AlternateURL ad. You earn money for every click on the ads we deliver.

How do I add the code?
Different ad programs have different methods for placing alternate ads. With Google AdSense, click on the "Ad Settings" link in your AdSense account. Half way down the page you'll find the form that lets you ad an Alternate URL to replace the public service announcement ads. For other programs, please review the online documentation to determine the best way to replace non-paid ads.

Will I make less money from my ad program by showing your ads?
Never. The program only replaces non-paying ads. If your site shows 10% PSA ads, you'll simply show 10% more paying ads from our advertisers.

When do I get paid?
Payments are net 45. For example, January payments would go out by March 15. Payments are issued by Paypal when your income reaches a minimum $50 balance.

Why do I need a PayPal account?
To lower costs and to automate payments, we can process your earnings via PayPal only. No check, wires or other payment methods are possible.

Can I use AlternateURL in another ad program, other than Google?
Yes. Although the program was initially designed for Google's AdSense program, we have added other codes for other programs, such as Fastclick.

What do the ads look like?
AlternateURL ads look similar to other text-based online advertisements. You may preview sample ads on this page.

Can I use AlternateURL on any site?

No. AlternateURL ads may not appear on adult-content sites, or others that do not meet our editorial guidelines. See our Editorial Guidelines for more information.

Do I have to build the ads?

All you have to do is generate an AlternateURL for the ad sizes you display on your site. Then you simply place your AlternateURL into your AdSense, Fastclick or other code. Or you can use AlternateURL as a primary ad program.

Why do I see unpaid PSA ads on my site anyway?

There could be many reasons. By using an Alternate URL, you'll be sure to maximize your site's revenue potential. Plus you'll be able to count the PSAs you would have shown.

Are there any fees?

No, it's free to join and use AlternateURL.

I have more than one website. Can I use the same URL for both?

Yes, upon approval. To get independent stats for each site, multiple AlternateURL accounts are required at this time. A sub-accounting system is being developed.
